la Quesera, el camino es malo, pero tambien de fácil composicion, pues que el terreno es igual á los antecedentes con corta diferencia. Es verdad que en todo este trecho no hay ladera, vereda, ni camino abierto; pero como hemos seguido la orilla de dicho rio, no costará una suma y regular, por la mucha facilidad de la obra: es verdad que esta maniobra la debe dirigir un facultativo instruido en el arte, y mas bien prático que teórico: y cuando no sea ingeniero de primer órden, á lo menos que sea de segunda, para poderse manejar, y conducirla con mucha economia y prudencia.
De la Quesera hasta la ciudad de San Agustin de Talca, tampoco hay embarazo alguno, aunque la distancia es casi de veinte leguas, pues que el camino es mejor que el que se transita desde la ciudad de Buenos Aires para la villa de Lujan; y que hay dos peque?os rios y un arroyo que atravesar. Pero con la circunstancia, que en todo el citado camino se hallan poblaciones con un vecindario en general muy humano y caritativo; pues lo manifestaron, no solamente con nosotros, sino con toda la tropa y demas que venian agregados.
Esto es cuanto por ahora debo manifestar á V. E., remitiéndome á mi diario; y como debo regresar por el mismo camino, suplico á V. E. se digne dispensar mi demora, prometiendo dar un exacto cumplimiento á la confianza en que me hallo obligado.--San Agustin de Talca, Mayo 16 de 1805.
