IMPI. (Hämmästyen.) Tuovila!

TUOVILA. Niin juuri!
IMPI. Tekö minun Anttini?
TUOVILA. Minä juuri!
IMPI. Voi minua! Kuinka en sinua kohta tuntenut! Kuinka saatoinkaan
äsken tuota räätäliä sinuksi luulla.
TUOVILA. Vaadi nyt hyvitystä, mitä tahdot.
IMPI. Minä tyydyn siihen, mitä jo tarjosit.
TUOVILA. Minä ymmärrän. (Syleilee Impeä.)
IMPI. Vihdoin viimeinkin!

(Ollinen, Aina ja Vainikka astuvat sisään.)
TUOVILA. Hän on jo kokonaan terve.
AINA. Kuinka on tämä selitettävä?
OLLINEN. Saanko esittää vaimoni ja tohtori----tohtori----kas kun en
muistakaan nimeänne.
TUOVILA. En ole tohtori, vaan olen amerikkalainen kauppias, nimeni
on Tuovila.
OLLINEN. Tekö Tuovila, ja sanoitte olevanne lääkäri.
TUOVILA. En minä ole koskaan itseäni siksi nimittänyt, vaan te
minulle sen arvonimen annoitte.
(Ollinen puhuttelee Impeä.)
TUOVILA. (Ainalle.) Vai niin, rouva Ollinen! Luulen, että olemme
tänään jo kerran tavanneet toisiamme, vaikka olimme molemmat
kylliksi hätikköjä luulemaan toisiamme aivan vääriksi henkilöiksi.
Minä tulin tänne velkomaan, mutta löysin täältä sen sijaan aarteen, joka
himmentää noitten 10,000 markan arvon.--Tässä on morsiameni!
(Näyttää impeä.)
AINA. Mitä!
TUOVILA. Rahojanne minä en tarvitse, (repii velkakirjan), sillä minä
olen miljoonan omistaja, mutta kätenne, ystävyytenne jos saan, olen
teille sydämmestäni kiitollinen.
OLLINEN. Te olette liiaksi jalomielinen.
TUOVILA. Suostutteko rupeamaan sukulaisikseni?
AINA. Mielellämme. Me iloitsemme siitä onnesta.
OLLINEN. Onnea vaan! (Kättelevät Tuovilaa ja Impeä.)
TUOVILA. (Vainikalle.) Ja te, suokaa anteeksi äsköinen käytökseni.
Erehdyksestähän sen tein.

VAINIKKA. Mielelläni suon sen teille anteeksi. Kun minä, tuota noin,
vasta saan teidänkin, niinsanoakseni, housuistanne niinkuin mittaa
ottamassa käydä, on asia kyllin korvattu.
TUOVILA. No nyt on vihdoin kaikki selvillä. Tässä näkyy tosin
tapahtuneen muutamia pieniä erehdyksiä. Mutta ihmekös tuo!
Kompastuuhan hevonen neljälläkin jalalla, miks'ei ihminen kahdella
