Sentado o Dam?o no meyo do servo de Deos, & do Capit?o, attento hum, & outro, lhe significou o Padre o motivo, que o obrigava a ficar entre elles, o qual era para lhes ensinar sem algum interesse o verdadeiro caminho do Ceo, ao que respondèr?o, que assim o queri?o, & se obrigav?o a tello em toda a venera??o, o que pretendèr?o firmar com sangue de suas veas, mas n?o lho permittir?o os nossos.
Entregouselhes logo a Santa Cruz, a que adoràr?o todos, & o Escudo das Armas de Portugal, que promettèr?o collocar ao pè da Cruz na primeira Igreja, que logo levantari?o, & que prometti?o viver debaixo da Coroa de Portugal, para o que andari?o trajados ao nosso modo, & por este respeito se lhes der?o vestidos, que levava? para este effeito, por o terem assim dado a entender; & por rematte pedir?o ao Capit?o; n?o faltasse em os communicar todos os annos, para conhecer a summa estima??o, que fazi?o do seu Tat?m. Concluidas estas ceremonias, se despedir?o levando o Padre em h[~u]as grandes andas, no que elle consentio, por temer, que a repugnancia lhes motivasse algum dissabor, que mal lograsse o seu intento.
Estes sa? os felices principios desta nova missa?, da qual se esper?o muitos, & venturosos progressos ao credito da Religi?o Theatina, & gloria da Coroa de Portugal, por ser[~e] ambas t?o empenhadas na propaga??o da Fè Catholica.
