Description:
Ver v1.0, for S60v3 SymbianOS9.x Unsigned
Raccoon is a mobile web server for Nokia S60v3 devices.
It consists of:
- A Symbian/S60 port of the Apache 2.0.54 web-server.
- A Symbian/S60 port of mod_python 3.3.1.
- A set of concept demos.
- A connectivity solution involving a gateway that provides a
mobile phone with a global domain name (a URL) and with HTTP
access to it from the Internet.
- A gateway service where you can sign up and thus get a domain name
for your mobile phone.
NOTE: Raccoon is now mostly obsolete and you should instead use:
* http://mymobilesite.net (MWS), if you are primarily interested
in trying out the concept.
* http://wiki.opensource.nokia.com/projects/PAMP, if you
want to play with low-level building blocks - Apache httpd,
MySQL and PHP. Like Raccoon, PAMP is fully open sourced.
As of version 1.3, MWS uses exactly - apart from the (Platform Security)
capabilities it has and the certificate it has been signed with - the same
Symbian/S60 port of Apache httpd as Raccoon (and PAMP) does.
NOTE: Although they use the same port of Apache httpd, Raccoon and MWS
CANNOT be installed on the same device. The both include support
for Python and in that respect they stomp on each other.
If you want to setup a gateway of your own, check the raccoon_gw package.
