Description:
The Pod Racer sequence of Episode One had many a viewer exclaiming "If only I could get my hands on one of those!" Star Wars Episode I: Racer lets you strap in and race over eight planets, including ice and gas planets--even Tattoine--at speeds of up to 600 mph. You can take the controls as Anakin Skywalker or as one of more than 20 Podracers, and negotiate flaming methane lakes, Tusken Raider assaults, and antigravity tunnels on your way to the finish line. Your opponents will also do what they can to eliminate you from the race, from crashing you into walls to dropping land mines in your path.
You can choose bigger pods that can withstand more damage but are slow, or pick from smaller, faster, less durable pods. There is also the option of purchasing upgrades to your racer using prize money. The systems that you can purchase include acceleration, self-repair capability, turning, and cooling. If you're out of cash, there's also a junkyard, where you can salvage parts.
In multiplayer mode, you can race against up to eight people over a network.
