The drops spattered onto the dusty street like little gold coins.
"See you around, kid," the dog said over its shoulder.
"Will I?" Tommy said. "Will I see you again?"
"Sure," the dog said. "Life is full of surprises."
Tommy put the rope in somebody's trash can and started home. What do you know? he thought. After a while he started to whistle.
