L'ING��NU, histoire v��ritable, tir��e des manuscrits du P. Quesnel, 1767, deux parties, petit in-8��, fut, dans quelques ��ditions, intitul��: Le Huron, ou l'Ing��nu.
L'ouvrage se vendait publiquement en septembre 1767, mais au bout de huit ou dix jours il fut saisi; et le prix, qui ��tait de trois livres, monta �� vingt- quatre[1].

Trois ans apr��s, on vit para?tre L' Ing��nue, ou l'Encensoir des dames, par la ni��ce �� mon oncle, Gen��ve et Paris, chez Desventes, 1770, in-12.

CHAPITRE I.
Comment le prieur de Notre-Dame de la Montagne et mademoiselle sa soeur rencontr��rent un Huron.
Un jour saint Dunstan, Irlandais de nation et saint de profession, partit d'Irlande sur une petite montagne qui vogua vers les c?tes de France, et arriva par cette voiture �� la baie de Saint-Malo. Quand il fut �� bord, il donna la b��n��diction �� sa montagne, qui lui fit de profondes r��v��rences, et s'en retourna en Irlande par le m��me chemin qu'elle ��tait venue.
Dunstan fonda un petit prieur�� dans ces quartiers-l��, et lui donna le nom de prieur�� de la Montagne, qu'il porte encore, comme un chacun sait.
En l'ann��e 1689, le 15 juillet au soir, l'abb�� de Kerkabon, prieur de Notre-Dame de la Montagne, se promenait sur le bord de la mer avec mademoiselle de Kerkabon, sa soeur, pour prendre le frais. Le prieur, d��j�� un peu sur l'age, ��tait un tr��s bon eccl��siastique, aim�� de ses voisins, apr��s l'avoir ��t�� autrefois de ses voisines. Ce qui lui avait donn�� surtout une grande consid��ration, c'est qu'il ��tait le seul b��n��ficier du pays qu'on ne f?t pas oblig�� de porter dans son lit quand il avait soup�� avec ses confr��res. Il savait assez honn��tement de th��ologie; et quand il ��tait las de lire saint Augustin, il s'amusait avec Rabelais: aussi tout le monde disait du bien de lui.
