Description:
Ver v.00.01, for j2me
We-Travel is a personal initiative to develop a free navigation solution for Java enabled mobile phones. We-Travel is in early development. It just starts to show the first signs of usable behaviour.
The key features of We-travel are :
Turn-by-Turn Voice Guided Navigation :
Based on your location, We-Travel gives you clear voice directions to reach your destination in an optimal way, either by car, bike or foot, supported by a 3D 'bird's eye' rotating map display.
Open and Free :
We-Travel is a totally free navigation software for java enabled mobile phones, based on map data from open street map. No good map navigation maps available for your area ? Help open street map.
Always Available :
All map data is stored locally on your phone. This ensures We-Travel works offline in places where there is no mobile phone reception, abroad or in the countryside. And as a plus, there are no telecom costs associated with route calculation or map display !
==> We-Travel : World's first and only totally free, offline, country level, Java mobile phone navigation system !
The Future
We-Travel is developed as a platform, on which several location based services can be added.
This could be anything from city guides, tourist tours to speed camera's and online traffic information, or meeting friends. Imagination is the only limit !
As a first feature, We-Travel already allows you (optionally) to record your trips and submit them automatically or upon request to the We-Travel website, from where you can export them to Open Street Maps, www.www.google.com.com Earth, ... etc. Note that you are only allowed to see your own traces and retention time of traces might be limited in the future.
If you are looking for a perfectly stable solution with perfect road data, you might be a bit too early. Please come back later.
If you like to be at the forefront of new developments and don't mind a crash once in a while, you are at the right place !
