Description:
Ver v2.0.1, for J2ME Menstrual Calendar for Mobile Phones
Most women keep track of their periods by marking the start of the menstruation on a small paper calendar; this allows them to estimate when their next period will come, and it is also a useful reference for any visit to the doctor, or for investigating a cycle irregularity.
Menstral takes the place of this paper calendar, with many advantages: because it's on your phone, you always have it handy when you want to mark your period or to find out when your next period will be.
In the image you see the main Menstral screen just after the first start-up. Because it has no period at all entered yet, it shows just the empty calendar.
Menstral is just as easy to use as the paper-calendar: all you have to do is to Mark the first day of your period. Yet it is much more powerful: it shows you not only the date for your next period, but also for the following periods, for many months in advance.
Menstral's accuracy improves when it has information about more of your past periods, in addition to the last one: it automatically deduces your period lenght, and it also adapts to your individual cycle variations.
When you are using Menstral for tracking you periods for some time, it naturally has and uses the information about your past periods; but when you just start using it, you can improve the prediction accuracy by entering the dates of a few previous periods from your paper-calendar.
Menstral has color-coded fertility and infertility indicators. The menstruation days are marked in red. The fertile days are green, and the infertile days are blue. The color change is gradated, with low-fertility days showing up in a less-decided green nuance, while high-fertility days are of an intense green. Similarilly, the most infertile days are of a stronger blue color.
The color-coded fertility information makes Menstral an useful aid in both avoiding pregnancy and conceiving. If you don't want to get pregnant, you should only have sex in the days marked in blue (more intense blue is safer), and avoid intercourse during the green days. If, on the contrary, you're trying to conceive, you should have sex on the days colored in intense green. Note, however, that Menstral doesn't represent a contraception method, that it can't guarantee that you won't get pregnant, and that it comes with no warranty at all, implied or expressed.
Menstral predicts your future periods for many months in advance -- you simply navigate the calendar to see the expected menstruation days and fertility status in the future. The prediction accuracy increases with the number of past periods entered (Menstral computes the expected cycle length and variation based on past periods). Also, women having a regular cycle (i.e. cycle with little variation in length) will get predictions further in the future. Menstral intuintively indicates when the predicted information is getting uncertain by displaying it in less intense colors -- as you can see in this image, which shows a future month.
Menstral also shows the list of all the periods you entered (start date and length in days). This list can be useful for your visit to your doctor, or to give you a global view of your past cycle lengths.
Alternatively, you can consult the statistics showing the minimum, maximum and average cycle lengths.
You can costumize Menstral's look by choosing between two color sets, Light (default) and Dark (shown in this image). It's also possible to configure the start day of the week, choosing between Monday (European style) and Sunday (US style).
Menstral is translated in 17 languages:
